Penn State University

Penn Stare  is  a large research university   located in Central Pennsylvania.   It is one of the highret ranked schools with an acceptance rate  over 50%.Annual enrollment at the University Park campus totals more than 46,800 graduate and undergraduate students, making it one of the largest universities in the United States.according to institutional rankings of total research expenditures for science and engineering released by the National Science Foundation, Penn State stands second in the nation, behind only Johns Hopkins and tied with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, in the number of fields in which it is ranked in the top ten. Overall, Penn State ranked 17th nationally in total research expenditures across the board. 
 Penn State has particularly strong engineering and science  programs.   Penn State is a lively campus with several student clubs and a vibrant social scene.   Across the street from campus is State College, a bustling small town with an array of coffee shops, restaurants, shops and bars populated mostly by students. Surrounded by mountains, the school is also close to skiing, snowboarding and hiking opportunities.  
  While Penn State may look like a safety school with an acceptance rate  over 50%, it should be kept in mind that as a state university admission is considerably more competitive for out of stare and foreign students.  Pen nState is ranked #50 among research universities.
