Happy Holidays

 Just taking a moment to wish everyone a merry christmas and happy holidays

  With only 5 days left to the Jan 01 deadline, a ot of people are too stressed out.
 Do take a brief break to enjoy the holidays. For  studednts ( especially foreign students) this may be your last family holiday  season for a few years. Do enjoy your vacation.

10 days to go

 Ther are only 10 days to go in the main application cycle.

   If you have been reading and following my advice  you would have applied EA to several schools and by now you are in a position to  incorporate some early feedback.
 Readjust your list  depending on  your acceptance offers or rejections.
  Identify the 3-4   remaining target schools in l your list  and make a final concerted push at  those in thes last few days

 Donrt worry - a lot of good options are still available  afyter Jan 1 including,    Michigan, Case Western, Wisconson, Pittsburgh,  Penn State, Washington University(St.Louis)

 A good liberal arts  school offer small classrooms and   a high level of faculty -student interaction  along with a genuine opportunity for students to  do research

Assuming you havre an SAT score of 1300+ or ACT of 28+ and a decent overall profile , several  universities can be  thought of as "saffe" choices whre you have a very strong likelihood ofadmission

Only 3 weeks to go

 At this stage , there  are just over weeks weeks left to  complete most of your your applications.  Of course there are several good optios  that have  mid Jan and February deadlinea but the msajority are due January 1.

 Keep in mind that your college list have a few "afw schools" that you  feel  confident about getting admission.
 Apply to at least  2 of these - so you will have one more decisionto make in spring

 How to identify a safe school.

 1.  download trhe admission  common datsa set,  your SAT or ACT scor should be  at or above the 75th percentile reported.
2. The school should have your desired major
3.   your counselor would know of other  students who were accepted with a similar profile
 your extra cirricular activities shoud match
 for students in the coming days.

 Georgetown is a prenmier university  in  Washingtin DC. Georgetown may be best kniown for its school of Foreign Service and politicam science priogram but the  business  and   ;iberal arts programs are equally solid.

Case Western Reserve University is an DTEM focussed University based in University Ciorcle , Cleveland. Case  ( as it is commonly called) has exzcellent pre-med, science and engineering programs , all with a strong  focus on iundergraduate project work anfd research.

 It is one of the betyter STEM options  that has an Early Admission. option

 If accepted to Case you can  b nnow focus on the elite STEM programs.
 I recommend making a push for
