University of Michigan application and Essays

University of  Michigan application and Essays

Lets continue with the universities I  selected for Early Action applicants  The University of  Michigan is  one of the best public universities. Early Action Applications are due on November 1 and you will be informed of  your admission status by December 24.
The Official admissions website can be seen at this link.

Michigan also uses the common app. As readers of the blog know, no university application  is simple.
Michigan requires 2 supplementary essays ,Let's look at these more carefully:

Essay #1 (Required for all applicants. Approximately 250 words.)
Everyone belongs to many different communities and/or groups defined by (among other things) shared geography, religion, ethnicity, income, cuisine, interest, race, ideology, or intellectual heritage. Choose one of the communities to which you belong, and describe that community and your place within it.
This is a very open ended question  which is meant to  give you the chance to write about your sense of identity.    The size of the community  is not  defined. This could be just your family your ethnic group or just your school.   Do note  that  the  term community can be defined by interest. Therefore  my personal answer would be  geek. You can  tie this into your academic and career interests by selecting entrepreneur or  scientist  as your  group.
Try to select the  influences that are important to you. As mentioned earlier avoid the cliches of  citing your parents as your main influence.
This essay  has a 250 word limit so  its best to keep it concise, don't forget to talk about your  place in the community.

Essay #2 (Required for all applicants. 500 words maximum.)
Describe the unique qualities that attract you to the specific undergraduate College or School (including preferred admission and dual degree programs) to which you are applying at the University of Michigan. How would that curriculum support your interests?

Use this essay to rite about your academic interests and intended major.  One of  Michigan's strengths is the vast array of majors and minors  one can choose from along wiyh  numerous double major programs.
Michigan prides itself on  a real world educational experience  as opposed to  a purely academic  education. Students have several opportunities to  get involved in  research  and internships.
A  good example is the  Michigan  consumer sentiment  index which is a internationally recognized index  of the US consumer sentiment.   The entire survey and index is conducted by students working with faculty at the  Michigan Ross school of business. You should mention how you  relate to the  Michigan curriculum

I strogly recommend Apply Early Action, If any part of your applicatiom is incomplete , your application will be rolled over to the Regular Decision  cycle of February 01,2016. You have 42 days left to  Nov 01. Get to work.
