Grinnell is a small , highly top ranked( #19)allenging its students.Professors will expect thorough research, thoughtful analysis, and creative thinking. Students are responsible for co-creating their curriculum with an adviser, and will have a voice voice in a self-governing residential community.
Grinnell's mission statement is to educate its students "for the different professions and for the honorable discharge of the duties of life." The College pursues that mission by providing an education in the liberal arts through free inquiry and the open exchange of ideas. As a teaching and learning community, the College holds that knowledge is a good to be pursued both for its own sake and for the intellectual, moral, and physical well-being of individuals and of society at large.
Grinnell actively recruits diverse campus community with students from different countries, economic backgrounds, faiths and school experiences. This along with a very cohesive campus environment makes peer learning a key aspect of the Grinnell experience.
Admission is competitive , with an acceptance rate around 25%. Grinnell prefers the common application and has recently eliminated a supplementary essay requirement.
